Clarke County Memorial Post
Service to Veterans and our Community
 
Post 9760 was founded in 1948 and is located in Berryville, Virginia. Our members reside in Clarke County, VA and the surrounding area and we are part of District 7 of the VFW Department of Virginia. We want to welcome today's military service members and veterans into our ranks and ask them to become part of the VFW family.

December 6th, Christmas Parade - Noon in Berryville.  Signup sheet in canteen.

December 6th, Thieves Christmas Party, 1800-2000 hours.  

December 7th, Toys for Tots Open House, 1300-1700 hours.    

December 13th:  Post Christmas Party.  1200-1600 hours.

December 15th:  Canteen closing at 1530 hours. 

December 31st:  New Years Eve Party.  1800 hours.

Season's Greetings, 
 
Thanksgiving is here, and I wanted to send out a special thank you to all our members. Our Memorial Day, Summer Picnic, Healing Heroes Ride, and Veterans Day events were great. Friday night dinners have been awesome, and the steak nights have been a highlight of activities at the canteen. The various football, tacos, trivia, and karaoke events have all been well attended.
 
Lots of fun events coming up at the post so be sure to mark your calendars.
 
December 6th starts off with the Clarke County Christmas Parade at noon with a float being organized by our VFW Auxiliary. There is a sign-up sheet in the canteen – stop by or call to be put on the list.
 
December 6th is also the Thieves Christmas Party from 6:00-8:00 pm. This is a lot of fun. Bring a wrapped gift with a value of $20 or more to participate. THIS year we will have additional bonus prizes and everyone who participates will be entered to win a GRAND PRIZE.
 
December 7th is the Toys for Tots fundraiser from 1:00-4:00 pm. The post will be hosting an open house for anyone who would like to stop by for some Christmas cheer and donate cash or new unwrapped toys. We will have some raffles to include a gift certificate for an exterior car detailing from Top Dog Detailing along with a two-night stay at Penmerryl Farm Bed and Breakfast.
 
December 13th is the VFW Christmas Party from 12:00-4:00. This year we will be providing an Italian menu with several different items along with a salad and special pricing on drinks. Bring a dessert to share. We will be conducting some raffles and giving away prizes including a BRAND-NEW HD TV. The canteen will re-open after the party.
 
December 15th the canteen will be closing at 5:30 for the employee Christmas Party.
 
December 31st we will be having a New Year's Eve Party with food and drink specials in the canteen. Bring something to share. Starting at 6:00 pm.
 
Due to the holidays, there will be no birthday tacos in November or December. I hope to see everyone at the post over the holidays.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.


There is a new cartoon everyday.
