At the Post/Auxiliary General meeting, awards were presented to those in our community that recognized the individuals who make a difference for us and our children. The Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Elementary School Teacher of the Year awards were given to Sergeant Timothy Bristol from the Berryville Police Department and Jennifer Strosnider from D.G. Cooley Elementary School. Chief of Police, Neal White, and Principal Molly Tinsman each spoke of their candidate’s professionalism and dedication.
In addition to those awards, the Voice of Democracy winner, Anna Spencer was recognized for her first-place entry. At the District 7 meeting on Saturday 21 January, Anna also won third place at the District judging. Anna is a remarkable young lady, having submitted winning entries for both Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy. I’m sure we haven’t heard the last from her. Congratulations, Anna! In addition to the Post’s recognition, Auxiliary President Carole Sweet presented Anna with a monetary award.
