All VFW Post and Auxiliary Members are encouraged to reach out to your State Delegate to oppose SB 1222 sponsored by Senator Bryce Reeves. SB1222 allows Claim Sharks to legally operate in Virginia. Dear Delegate ,
I am a constituent.
The VFW opposes SB 1222 introduced by Senator Bryce Reeves.
This is a bad bill because it allows Claim Sharks to legally operate in Virginia and to charge in perpetuity for any increases in benefits a veteran may receive, even if they had no part in assisting the veteran to obtain that increase.
These claim sharks are not accredited with the Veterans Administration. If they were, they could not legally charge a veteran to file for benefits.
They also have no access to the VA system and cannot track the progress of a claim.
The VFW vehemently opposes these claim sharks and is working on federal legislation to ban them. Until that happens we must stop them here in Virginia.
Again, please oppose SB 1222.
