November 6, 2023:  This month’s meeting was well attended with 25 members present.  We voted in three new members:  New Life member Lee Briggs Phillips, U.S. Navy, Vietnam Veteran; New Life member Joseph Paul Johnson, U.S. Navy, Afghanistan and Iraq Veteran; and new Annual member Bryan David Smith, U.S. Airforce, Iraq Veteran.

There are lots of events coming up, see the announcement section of the website for details.  Veterans Day Ceremony at Government center at 11:00 am and Open House on November 11.

We have an urgent need for HONOR GUARD MEMBERS, we will not be able to perform Military Honors at veteran’s funerals and participate in other functions unless we get more volunteers immediately. Interested members should contact Chris Burch, Honor Guard Captain at 540-539-5446.

Jodi Lowery was recently hired as to be the new Canteen Manager; the transition will take place over the next few months.  Jodi has been a member of the auxiliary for a long time and has previously been both a bartender and assistant manager.  We are looking forward to working with her.  We are grateful to RJ for stepping up and making so many improvements to the post.

If you have not already done so, stop by and check out the new TV setup in the canteen.  They were purchased with money donated by Grover Gaming for post improvements.  We were able to update the post internet/WIFI access as part of the project so members should notice a improvement.

We are planning end of year charitable gaming donations which mandate we use a minimum percentage of our charitable gaming receipts for religious, charitable, community, or educational purposes for which our organization is specifically chartered.   If you know of or wish to recommend deserving non-profits or charities that could use some assistance, please let a member of the executive board know by the executive meeting scheduled for November 20th.
